Buckingham Palace "knew who they were dealing with" when it came to handling the public appearances of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for Queen Elizabeth II 's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June, according to a prominent royal commentator. Richard Fitzwilliams, a regular commentator on royal affairs, told British political figure Nigel Farage on the GB News network that Harry and Meghan have done "a lot of damage in the United States" to the monarchy but that the institution "has lasted over a thousand years." When told by Farage that there is "worse to come" with the expected publication of Harry's memoir later this year, Fitzwilliams responded by saying, "there is undoubtedly potentially worse to come but what impressed me during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations which you mentioned to begin with, the palace knew who they were dealing with." He went on to give examples of the palace's apparent handling of the Sussexes as they made their first joint public return … [Read more...] about Harry, Meghan jubilee visit: “The palace knew who they were dealing with”

Meghan bullying report publication would see a “bloodbath” on all sides
If Buckingham Palace were to publish the findings of their review into allegations of bullying made by staff against Meghan Markle there would be a "bloodbath on all sides," according to a new episode of Newsweek 's The Royal Report podcast. The discussion between chief royal correspondent Jack Royston and royal commentator Kristen Meinzer about the review comes after reports claimed in June that the palace had decided not to make its findings available to the public. The bullying allegations made against Meghan by former Kensington Palace staff members were initiated following the leaking of an email exchange between former palace press secretary Jason Knauf and Prince William 's private secretary. The leak came in the days leading up to the broadcast of Meghan and Prince Harry 's interview with Oprah Winfrey. Knauf's leaked email, which was first published by U.K.-based newspaper The Times , was sent in the aftermath of Harry and Meghan's tour of the South … [Read more...] about Meghan bullying report publication would see a “bloodbath” on all sides

Queen has ‘ring of steel’ to halt Harry and Meghan documentary bid, expert says
The Queen has a "ring of steel" around her with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle warned by advisors not to "even think" about using her as a source of content for a Netflix documentary, said a royal expert. Russell Myers says Buckingham Palace aides have put a strict cordon around the Queen but admits that it is impossible to know what the Sussexes will choose to do with Netflix. "There is an absolutely a ring of steel around the Queen in terms of her advisors," Mr Myers told the US outlet Today, reported the Express . "I mean, they certainly would be advising Harry and Megan to not even think about it for a second, but who knows what they will do? "They would definitely have been advised not to speak to Oprah Winfrey not to speak to Gayle King not to speak to the American journalists last week and yet they still keep on doing it. Tea with benefits: Lessons from the Royal Family
Kolkata is often called the last outpost of the British Empire. Ian Jack once wrote in The Guardian that two things united Kolkata and London — “the first is expensive property and the second is the institution once known as the gentlemen’s club” with dress codes which “while they have done away with cummerbunds, still make the visitor think twice before he sets foot in one.” A friend who belongs to a prestigious gentlemen’s club in London is nowhere as much at home as in their counterparts in Kolkata. He can do Bengal Club, Calcutta Club and Tollygunge Club in one day and be dressed right for all of them. And the office bearers of these stately clubs of Kolkata , tickled pink at the attention from a bona fide Londoner, never fail to roll out the frayed red carpet to welcome him. That this Kolkata has been so nonchalant about the Platinum Jubilee of the Queen feels like a personal snub to Her Majesty. This is a city that created Corona sandesh during the pandemic and Football … [Read more...] about Tea with benefits: Lessons from the Royal Family
Evolution of tea time
JANG JU-YOUNG The author is a national news editor of the JoongAng Ilbo. On June 6, the official YouTube channel of the British Royal Family uploaded a video titled “Ma’amalade sandwich, Your Majesty?” In the clip, Queen Elizabeth II is having tea with Paddington, a beloved bear character, at Buckingham Palace. The video was shown at the Platinum Jubilee event celebrating the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s accession. The video shows tea and Paddington as notable cultural products of Britain. In fact, tea time started in England. Tea originated from ancient China, spread to neighboring countries in the 8th century, and was introduced to Britain and Europe in the early 17th century. But the British people have become most passionate about drinking tea. They have tea multiple times a day, elevenses around 11 a.m., afternoon tea between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., and high tea between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Koreans are unfamiliar with the English tea time, where everyone drops what … [Read more...] about Evolution of tea time
Queen is determined to keep Prince Andrew around because he is ‘intensely loyal’
Prince Andrew's fall from grace after his involvement in the Jeffery Epstein scandal has been widely publicised - but constant claims that he wants to be rehabilitated back into the royal fold continue to surface. The Queen's ongoing support for The Duke of York has also prompted many people to question why the monarch is still standing by her son's side, seemingly unphased by the troubles he has encountered. It is well-known that Andrew is considered to be Her Majesty's favourite child and still retains that title despite recent events. The reason for their closeness was unpicked when The Mirror's royal podcast, Pod Save the Queen , spoke to the famed biographer, Andrew Morton about his 25th book 'The Queen'. The show's host Zoe Forsey spoke to the author and asked about Her Majesty's unwavering support for her second son and why he thinks Andrew will never lose his mother's confidence. It is widely believed that Prince Andrew is The Queen's favourite child ( … [Read more...] about Queen is determined to keep Prince Andrew around because he is ‘intensely loyal’
Castle the Queen used to own but never lived in that cost her less than £100
Something that defines the Royal Family is the number of castles, palaces and stately homes that are associated with it. Whether it's Buckingham Palace, Sandringham, Windsor Castle or Kensington Palace, the Royal Family has an impressive portfolio of homes around the country. And there is one stunning Scottish home that was bought for a shockingly low price. The castle has never been lived in full-time by The Queen and is today used as a summer home for The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall. The story of its purchase is featured in Netflix ’s The Crown - which royals fans raved about. Princess Margaret called it ‘Mummy’s drafty castle’, and for good reason. Prince Andrew ‘won’t be cast out’ by royals in case he writes tell-all book, expert says
Prince Andrew won't be "cast out" by the royals and will be made financially secure to stop him from writing a tell-all book, a royal expert has claimed. The Duke of York stepped down from royal duties in the wake of a sex scandal earlier this year and had his military titles and royal patronages stripped from him. He denied the allegations against him and later came to an out of court settlement with his accuser . The settlement is not an admission of guilt. He was forced to remain out of sight during the Garter Day procession earlier this month after a "family decision" was taken to limit his appearance to a behind-the-scenes lunch and investiture ceremony. Prince Andrew, who has stepped away from public life ( Image: Getty Images) The duke also missed out on the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations due to Covid, although is reportedly a frequent visitor to see his mother at Windsor Castle. But despite not taking a part in public life, royal expert and … [Read more...] about Prince Andrew ‘won’t be cast out’ by royals in case he writes tell-all book, expert says
