President Donald Trump has inspired tattoos for both supporters and critics

July 17, 2018 by www.newsweek.com

July 17 is designated National Tattoo Day, and the art of tattooing, which dates back to China in 2100 B.C., shows no sign of ending anytime soon. As designs become consistently more intricate, a new tattoo rose to popularity in the wake of the 2016 election—the face of President Donald Trump. While it's certainly not as popular as, say, a moon or an arrow, the design has found a place on various people's bodies. Illinois-based tattoo artist Charles David Tracy told Newsweek that he's completed only one Trump tattoo so far but has two more people scheduled for the tattoo. "The folks who want them seem to be supporting the president," he explained. "I really can't label them as Republicans or Democrats. To be honest, it's not really my business. As long as the client is happy, I'm happy." The tattoo of Trump that he completed is a complex design that looks nearly identical to the president, who is pictured in a suit and tie with a stern expression on his face. No detail was … [Read more...] about President Donald Trump has inspired tattoos for both supporters and critics

Hillary Clinton Mocks Donald Trump With Parody of His Letter to Turkey’s Erdogan

October 21, 2019 by www.news18.com

Washington: Hillary Clinton on Sunday posted a joke letter on Twitter supposedly sent by John F. Kennedy during the 1962 Cuban missile crisis, written in the excitable style of US President Donald Trump's recent letter to Turkey. The parody letter, which has been doing the rounds for some days on social media, is written on mocked-up White House letter paper and addressed to Russia's then leader Nikita Khrushchev. "Don't be a dick, ok? Get your missiles out of Cuba," starts the letter pretending to be from president Kennedy. "Everybody will say 'Yay! Khrushchev! You're the best!' But if you don't everybody will be like 'what an asshole' and call your garbage country 'The Soviet Bunion'." The letter echoes the bizarre tone of Trump's October 9 letter to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in which he warned that he would wreck Turkey's economy if its invasion of Syria went too far. Boris Johnson insists he won’t change and criticism of his behaviour ‘doesn’t matter’

June 25, 2022 by www.mirror.co.uk

Boris Johnson vowed not change his behaviour following a double drubbing in crucial by-elections in a bizarre series of broadcast interviews. The Prime Minister said the idea that he would undergo a “psychological transformation” following the embarrassing defeats was “not going to happen.” And he indicated he thinks serious questions about his ethical conduct “doesn’t matter.” “As a leader you have to distinguish between the criticism that really matters and the criticism that doesn’t,” he told the BBC during a trip to Rwanda for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). He claimed the public were “heartily sick of hearing about me and the things I'm alleged to have done wrong.” And he told Sky News his party suffered the crushing defeats because “people were absolutely fed up hearing about things I stuffed up, this endless churn of stuff, when they wanted to hear what is this guy doing." The PM is visiting Rwanda for the Commonwealth Heads of Government … [Read more...] about Boris Johnson insists he won’t change and criticism of his behaviour ‘doesn’t matter’

Boris Johnson pledges to raise UK defence spending to 2.5% – but only by 2030

June 30, 2022 by www.mirror.co.uk

Britain will boost defence spending by billions of pounds but still cut thousands of troops from the Army, Boris Johnson said today. Speaking at the NATO Summit in Madrid, the Prime Minister said the UK would lift cash for the armed forces from 2% of GDP to 2.5% by the end of the decade. Based on current figures, the pledge would amount to an extra £55.1bn by 2030, it is understood. But he did not spell out fully how. Grilled by the Mirror, he vowed to press on with cutting the Army by 9,500 soldiers - leaving an Army of just 72,500 soldiers while bolstering their gear. And he refused to back down from dropping the Tory manifesto pledge to raise defence spending "by at least 0.5% above inflation every year of the new Parliament”. It comes after a Cabinet row over defence spending amid the war in Ukraine , with Defence Secretary Ben Wallace calling publicly for it to rise from the middle of the decade. Boris Johnson made the comments at the Nato summit in Madrid … [Read more...] about Boris Johnson pledges to raise UK defence spending to 2.5% – but only by 2030

Ex-Tory minister urges Boris Johnson to reduce minimum pension age to 61

June 25, 2022 by www.mirror.co.uk

Former Tory pensions minister Ros Altmann is calling on Boris Johnson to reduce the minimum pension age to 61. If the PM accepts her plan it would mean anyone with 45 years of national insurance contributions but unable to work because of ill health would be able to retire five years early on a reduced state pension. Under the present system one in seven 65-year-olds have been pushed into poverty because the pension age is now 66 for both men and women. That will go up to 67 in 2026. Research by the Institute for Fiscal Studies showed 100,000 older people fell below the poverty line in 2020 as 700,000 65-year-olds had to wait the extra year before getting pension payments worth £142 per week. Under Baroness Altmann’s scheme those who could not continue working would qualify for a pension of around £84 a week instead of having to rely on jobless benefits. Those who could show shortened life expectancy would be able to claim the full whack. The plan could be paid for from the … [Read more...] about Ex-Tory minister urges Boris Johnson to reduce minimum pension age to 61

Secret Service ties to Trump ring alarm bells amid Jan 6. revelations

June 30, 2022 by www.newsweek.com

The relationship between the Secret Service and former President Donald Trump is ringing alarm bells amid revelations from testimony given to the House of Representatives' Select Committee that is investigating the January 6, 2021 Capitol riots. Former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson testified before the committee on Tuesday that Tony Ornato, who is currently assistant director of the Secret Service Office of Training, told her that Trump became irate while in his vehicle on January 6 after he was told he could not go to the Capitol. Hutchinson said that Ornato had told her Trump had tried to grab the steering wheel and that Ornato had made those comments in a room with Robert Engel, the Secret Service agent in charge of Trump's detail on the day. Ornato was White House deputy chief of staff for operations at the time. He had been permitted to leave his Secret Service role temporarily in order to serve as deputy chief of staff in an unusual move for the service. … [Read more...] about Secret Service ties to Trump ring alarm bells amid Jan 6. revelations

Fact Check: Is Cassidy Hutchinson “on record” about Trump job after Jan 6?

June 30, 2022 by www.newsweek.com

Former Trump White House staffer Cassidy Hutchinson has faced significant scrutiny since her testimony during the January 6 hearings. Hutchinson, who was an aide to White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, alleged to the House Select committee hearing that former President Donald Trump lunged at Secret Service personnel and tried to take the wheel of the presidential limousine in the lead-up to the Capitol riots , among other allegations. Trump says Hutchinson's claims, made under oath, are false and downplayed her role in his team. Among Trump's rebuttals are that he refused Hutchinson's requests to join him among other staffers at his Mar-a-Lago retreat after he lost the 2020 presidential election. This has led some to examine the depth of Hutchinson's involvement in his team around January 6 and what actions she took in response to the riots. The Claim A tweet, posted on June 29, 2022, claims that Hutchinson had gone on record just a week after the January 6 riots to … [Read more...] about Fact Check: Is Cassidy Hutchinson “on record” about Trump job after Jan 6?

Trump Rails Against Cassidy Hutchinson Testimony — ‘The Woman Is Living in Fantasy Land’

June 30, 2022 by www.breitbart.com

During an interview that aired Thursday on Newsmax TV’s “Wake Up America,” former President Donald Trump slammed former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony before the House Select Committee investigating the January 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol. Trump called Hutchinson’s account “absolutely crazy” and said she was “living in fantasy land.” “I thought it was absolutely crazy,” Trump told Newsmax TV “Wake Up America” host Rob Finnerty. “This committee is, a lot of people say, illegally formed. But when you look at what they’re doing, and you look at what they’re saying, and what they’re doing to the country, the good news is, a lot of people aren’t watching, a lot of people aren’t listening to it, but they’re trying to do real harm.” “This lady yesterday, is something wrong with her? Is there something wrong? She said I jumped from a car, and I started … strangling a Secret Service agent who I know very well? I grabbed the steering wheel of a car? Former President Donald Trump said Thursday on Newsmax TV’s “Wake Up America” that he got along well with Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) when asked about the possibility of a Republican Trump-DeSantis ticket in 2024.” Host Rob Finnerty asked, “On 2024, 2.5 years from now, you haven’t said anything, you’ve hinted, you hinted Saturday night in Mendon, Illinois. Are Melania and Barron on board with a possible run again in 2.5 years?” Trump said, “Well, they love our country, and they hate to see what’s happening. So at the right time, I’ll be saying what I want to do. But they do. They love our country, both. Barons is a young man, and Melania is a First Lady who was really loved. I will say that. I see the signs, ‘we love our First Lady.’ But they love our country, so I think they’ll do what has to be done if we decide to go that way.” Finnerty asked, “Could you envision a world, sir, where there is a Trump, DeSantis, ticket in 2024?” Trump said, “Well, I get along with him.
