A mysterious package attached to a bright red parachute set off a bomb scare on Tuesday — but the white styrofoam box turned out to be a NASA experiment. A group of solar panel employees spotted the box when it floated to the ground at a solar panel field affiliated with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, off of New Road in South Brunswick, around noon.  When the employees approached the package, they discovered a handwritten message attached to the outside of it. "NASA Atmospheric Research Instrument NOT A BOMB! If found, please call [redacted]. A CONTROLLED explosion has been carried out after Westminster was placed on lockdown over a bomb scare. A stretch of Victoria Embankment at Westminster Bridge was cordoned off while officers investigated a suspicious package. The Metropolitan Police confirmed they were scrambled to area at around 3.39pm. Political blogger Guido Fawkes wrote on Twitter: "Bomb scare in Parliament. Victoria Embankment closed, Scotland Yard Tannoy telling those indoors to stay away from windows." Roads surrounding the Houses of Parliament were blocked off with traffic being diverted to Trafalgar Square. Victoria Embankment was also shut both ways between Bridge Street and Northumberland Avenue. Workers tweeted eerie photos of the usually packed area of central London completely deserted. AN IDIOT partygoer went out dressed as an ISIS terrorist - and sparked a major bomb scare when he chucked his 'suicide belt' in a public bin. A crack RAF anti-bomb squad were forced to conduct a controlled explosion after the device - complete with wires and a mobile phone - was dumped in Wellingborough, Northants. TIME Warner Center, home to New York's CNN headquaters, has been evacuated over "suspicious packages". The NYPD's bomb squad discovered two unattended items on the third floor. Employees have been told to leave the area as cops probe the items. It comes amid a flurry of pipe bombs being sent to key Democrat figures. The first floor of the mall remained open while officers investigated. It also houses a number of shops. Earlier, a radio station in Washington DC was evacuated for the same reason. Staff fled the WMAL HQ after the sinister delivery on Thursday. DC cops responded to the building just after 4pm, and blocked off the street as they investigated.
