So what’s next for Manning? No doubt, he’s going to have to come forward to address these allegations, whether he vehemently denies it or confesses to them. The allegations that he used HGH were not damning to his image and reputation, but news of this sexual assault surely may make him think twice about walking back on the football field, especially since the NFL has a huge domestic violence problem that it perpetually fails to address. If there turns out to be any truth to these claims, I would expect Manning to take a hit, maybe a loss of a sponsorship. Soon after Judge Berman’s ruling, the NFL filed an appeal to the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals. The NFL submitted a brief to the court and so did the NFLPA on behalf of Tom Brady. Thursday, oral arguments were made before a three-judge panel made up of Judge Denny Chin, Judge Barrington Parker, and Judge Robert Katzmann. The NFLPA’s gameplan going into the hearing was to argue their same argument asserted in district court and in their brief, which is that Tom Brady did not receive adequate notice under the NFL league rules and policy to warrant a 4-game suspension for the deflation of footballs. On August 26th, USAID released a new report, titled “Acting on the Call: Ending Preventable Child and Maternal Deaths.” The report documents progress in 24 priority countries, including the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Madagascar, Mali,  Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Sudan, Tanzania, Ugandan, and Zambia, on improving access to quality and respectful care during delivery, neonatal resuscitation, vaccinations, breastfeeding, diarrhea treatment, hand-washing, and other life-saving interventions. On the same day the New York Court of Appeals issued its opinion in Hernandez v. Robles, No. 86, the Georgia Supreme Court unanimously upheld an amendment to that state’s constitution prohibiting gay partners from marrying or claiming benefits under a civil union, Perdue v. O’Kelley, No. S06A1574. On July 14, a three judge panel of the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals at St. Louis unanimously reversed a district court ruling invalidating a provision in the Nebraska constitution that defined marriage as between a man and a woman, and that banned same sex civil unions, Citizens for Equal Protection v.
