Police believe they died in early May. The decomposed state of their remains complicated the task of determining the causes of death. The first-floor Canterbury Road apartment was open for inspection on Monday with rent set at 520 Australian dollars ($362) a week. That is AU$40 ($28) more than the sisters were charged. An online ad said the apartment had been designated a crime scene and the mysterious deaths remained under police investigation. … [Read more...] about Sydney realtor says deaths of Saudi sisters not random crime

Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 3 PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (AP) — Southeast Asian foreign ministers issued a joint statement Friday after a series of meetings in the Cambodian capital criticizing Myanmar for its lack of progress in ending violence there, but with weaker language than several countries had hoped for. Myanmar’s military-led government, which seized power from elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi in February 2021, has been accused of thousands of extrajudicial killings, and last week carried out its first official executions in decades, raising an outcry from several members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and countries around the world. ASEAN has been trying to implement a five-point consensus it reached on Myanmar last year, calling for dialogue among all concerned parties, provision of humanitarian assistance and an immediate cessation of violence, among other things. 3 Yrs of Article 370 Abrogation: Stronger Integration of J&K with Indian Union is Good News for Kashmiris
Dynast politics has an expiry date. Once, the surname Gandhi made you a genuine heavyweight, but with Rahul Gandhi losing Amethi, a family bastion, that’s gone. After Bal Thackeray’s demise, Uddhav Thackeray, as we have seen recently, could not keep the party together, just by virtue of being a Thackeray. The Akali Dal, initially created to democratise the Gurdwaras in conjunction with the struggle against British colonialism, when reduced to a Badal family enterprise allowing Punjab to become a dope haven, is now quite discredited. The pattern could repeat itself in J&K too, with the Abdullahs and Muftis feeling threatened that their game could be up. Thus, their rallying point has become the restoration of Article 370. But as a Kashmiri myself, I ask the youth of the Valley — how will reviving that dead letter help? It is quite funny to see some people argue that militancy and stone-pelting have not completely ended because of the abrogation, as if the abrogation was … [Read more...] about 3 Yrs of Article 370 Abrogation: Stronger Integration of J&K with Indian Union is Good News for Kashmiris
Violence in Phnom Penh | ASEAN Foreign Ministers criticise Myanmar, but with weaker language than expected
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Foreign Ministers issued their final communique on August 5 after a series of meetings in the Cambodian capital, criticising fellow member Myanmar for its lack of progress in ending the violence in Phnom Penh, but with weaker language than several countries had hoped for. Myanmar’s military-led government that seized power from elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi in February 2021 has been accused of thousands of extrajudicial killings and last week carried out its first official executions in decades — raising an outcry from several ASEAN members and countries around the world. ASEAN has been trying to implement a five-point consensus it reached on Myanmar last year, calling for dialogue among all concerned parties, provision of humanitarian assistance and an immediate cessation of violence, among other things. Following news of the late-July executions, Malaysia's Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah accused Myanmar of “making a … [Read more...] about Violence in Phnom Penh | ASEAN Foreign Ministers criticise Myanmar, but with weaker language than expected
Zawahiri’s Death is Respite for India’s Intel Fraternity, But There’s No Room for Complacency
The US killed Ayman Al-Zawahiri, Al-Qaeda supreme commander and one of the key masterminds of the September 11 attacks along with Osama Bin Laden, in a CIA-led drone strike on August 1, 2022, at a residential building in the posh Sherpura colony of Kabul city. Following the attack, US President Joe Biden, in his televised remarks , said Zawahiri’s death “marked one more measure of closure” to the families of those who were killed in the 9/11 attacks. The attack has come almost a year after Americans hurriedly left in an abject surrender of Afghanistan to the Taliban. Besides exposing the underlying links between the Taliban, the Pakistani state, and Al-Qaeda, the CIA’s successful drone operation in killing Zawahiri raises several questions about the future of Al-Qaeda, the impact on India, and the efficacy of the US intelligence network and future counterterrorism operations in Afghanistan. Ayman Al Zawahiri: An Uncharismatic Successor of Laden A close associate of Laden, … [Read more...] about Zawahiri’s Death is Respite for India’s Intel Fraternity, But There’s No Room for Complacency
