In the surest sign of spring, players young and old, professional and tee-ball, Major League and Beer League, some hoping for a World Series and others vying for schoolyard cred, are emerging from their dens and taking to the diamond for another season of baseball. This year, there's been a lot of talk about changing the usually stubborn game – including moving the pitching mound back, adding a pitch clock, and even a three-batter minimum for pitchers. But one rule change that isn't being talked about nearly enough would be to change the safety requirements for a batter's helmet. After much speculation, the subjects of an anonymous 2016 lawsuit in which the plaintiff alleges being assaulted by her “then-husband” on a private plane have been revealed as Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt . According to a report from Puck , several years ago Jolie told an FBI agent that Pitt “physically and verbally assaulted” her and their children when they were aboard the plane. Per the agent’s notes at the time, Pitt allegedly took Jolie to the back of the plane, grabbed her shoulders and shouted things like, “You’re fucking up this family.” Jolie alleged that on the same flight, another physical altercation occurred, which caused her to sustain injuries, including on her elbow. Denver police on Tuesday released surveillance video and body camera footage of three officers shooting an armed man and injuring six innocent bystanders outside busy downtown bars on July 17. The videos for the first time show from start to finish the shooting, which will be investigated by a grand jury . Denver police officials previously made public still images they selected from the videos but denied public records requests by The Denver Post and other news outlets to release the videos in their entirety. The videos show several officers walking north on Larimer Street paralleling the armed man, Jordan Waddy, as he moved through the crowd on the sidewalk. Officers followed Waddy because they saw him punch another man during a fight, which was captured on a city surveillance video. Please note: This video contains images some may find disturbing. Michael Mina scraps plans for massive food hall in S.F.

August 16, 2022 by www.sfchronicle.com

Prolific restaurateur Michael Mina and his hospitality group have scrapped their plans for a massive food hall once conceived as the “crown jewel” of a plaza outside Chase Center. The Chronicle first reported on the food hall plan when it was announced in 2019 as part of an 11-acre plaza named Thrive City . The 16,000-square-foot food hall space was originally envisioned to feature three full-service dining areas and an all-star lineup of chefs on rotation. Then the pandemic changed those plans. “As a result of COVID, we have shifted our priorities and are focused on reinvesting in our current restaurants,” a Mina Group marketing officer wrote to The Chronicle. Mina’s more than 40 restaurants include Estiatorio Ornos , Mina Family Kitchen and International Smoke with Ayesha Curry, partner of Warriors star Steph Curry. While the Mina Group pulled the plug on Thrive City’s anchor food project, other businesses announced back in 2019 have successfully set up shop. Those … [Read more...] about Michael Mina scraps plans for massive food hall in S.F.
