Videos on social media show the devastation caused by a powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit southern Turkey and northern Syria early Monday. The quake has killed at least 360 people and many more were injured as buildings collapsed across the region, with the toll expected to rise as rescue workers searched through the rubble. It was centered about 20 miles from the city of Gaziantep, a major Turkish provincial capital, about 60 miles from the Syrian border, the U.S. Geological Survey said. More than two dozen aftershocks followed, the strongest of them measuring 6.7. A dramatic video has captured the moment part of a 12-story beachfront condo collapsed in Florida early on Thursday morning. The 24-second clip, captured from a nearby building, was shared by talk show host Andy Slater on Twitter on Thursday. A wing of the Champlain Tower, located at 8777 Collins Avenue in the town of Surfside, collapsed at around 1.30 a.m., killing at least one person and trapping residents in rubble. A massive search-and-rescue effort is underway after a 12-story tower partially collapsed in Florida, killing at least one person. Part of Champlain Towers, a condo building located at 8777 Collins Avenue in Surfside, collapsed early Thursday morning, the Miami Beach Police Department confirmed on Twitter . "Multiple police and fire agencies from across Miami-Dade are assisting," the department tweeted. Miami Dade Fire and Rescue (MDFR) said crews were at the scene at 88th Street and Collins Avenue.
