Ted Cruz, Alyssa Milano Say They’ll Meet to Talk Guns
Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and actress Alyssa Milano appear to be setting up a meeting in Washington to discuss gun control. The two tweeted back-and-forth after Saturday's shooting in Odessa, Texas, after Milano fired off a message to a state Republican lawmaker who had tweeted that "none of these so-called gun-control solutions will work to stop a person with evil intent," reports The Hill. "Can someone cite which passage of the Bible God states it is a god-given right to own a gun?" she asked, with Cruz responding, "it is of course not the right to a modern-day firearm that is God-given but rather the right to Life & the right to Liberty." He continued by telling her, "essential to that right to life is the right to DEFEND your life & your family...Forcible gun confiscation (as some 2020 Dems urge) won't prevent mass-murders. But it would weaken our self-defense." Their debate continued, with Milano finally making a request to "come in and meet with you on the … [Read more...] about Ted Cruz, Alyssa Milano Say They’ll Meet to Talk Guns

Study shows professional women doubt risk of harassment if they’re not victims
Jeff Green, Bloomberg Published 8:05 am PDT, Monday, October 15, 2018 A majority of female professionals who haven't experienced or witnessed sexual harassment in the workplace say they don't believe it's commonly happening, according to a survey of more than 5,000 workers released Monday. The study's results show that many women are still afraid to report abuse, according to Elizabeth Alexander, a senior managing director in strategic communications at FTI Consulting. "Women who haven't seen it, or say it hasn't happened to me, they don't think it's a problem," Alexander said in an interview. That's because those that did are keeping it to themselves, she said. "It's this vicious cycle of under-reporting of what's actually happening and it's keeping it all still hidden from view." Business leaders, lawmakers and advocates have been grappling with how best to respond to the MeToo movement, which started in Hollywood and has unearthed harassment across the U.S. corporate … [Read more...] about Study shows professional women doubt risk of harassment if they’re not victims
