LOS ANGELES (AP) — Ashley Judd has sued Harvey Weinstein, saying he hurt her acting career in retaliation for her rejecting his sexual advances.In the lawsuit filed Monday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Judd accuses Weinstein of defamation, sexual harassment and violation of California's unfair competition law.Central to the lawsuit is director Peter Jackson saying in December that Weinstein had warned him that Judd was a "nightmare" to work with. Jackson was considering Judd for a major role in his "Lord of the Rings" movies.Weinstein has denied trying to derail Judd's career, and said he had no role in Jackson's casting. NEW YORK (AP) — Ashley Judd has issued a personal message to fellow survivors of sexual assault, telling them healing is not only possible, it's "our birthright."The actress was one of the first women to accuse movie mogul Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct, helping to launch the #MeToo movement. She was speaking Saturday at an all-day event hosted by the Tribeca Film Festival and Time's Up, the movement fighting sexual harassment and promoting gender equality. At least two of the three newly named suspects in the cold case deaths of two Welch teenagers in December 1999 have extensive criminal histories.Ronnie Dean Busick, 66, of Wichita, Kansas, was charged Monday in Craig County District Court with four counts of first-degree murder-malice aforethought, four counts accessory to murder in the first degree, two counts of kidnapping and one count of arson and one count of accessory to arson in the first degree.He is the sole survivor among three suspects named Monday by law enforcement. Busick was 48 years old at the time of the killings of 16-year-old friends Lauria Bible and Ashley Freeman, and Freeman's parents Danny and Kathy Freeman in the town of Welch.Public records indicate Busick has been in and out of prison in the Kansas Department of Corrections on drug-related charges since the mid-1980s. VIRGINIA BEACHAshley McLeod, one of the more veteran members of the School Board, will not seek re-election this fall. McLeod joined the board in March 2010, when she was appointed to fill a vacancy. She easily won a special election that November. After losing her seat in 2012, she ran again two years later and won.McLeod, the communications and membership director for the Virginia Maritime Association, said she has more work-related opportunities on the horizon. She’s also looking at different ways to serve the community, she said, adding that she is not exploring other upcoming political races.She holds an at-large seat on the board.
