D uring the height of the pandemic, after getting fully vaccinated, I had to do a few cross-border flights. They were not fun at all, but confusing and exasperating. Check-ins, security checks, body scans, customs and immigration clearances, uploading vaccine certificates, and downloading apps for departure and arrival are time-consuming and, in many instances, complicated even for the tech-savvy. I remember my first transoceanic flight on an Air India Jumbo Jet, Emperor Ashoka, from the Santa Cruz airport in Bombay to the JFK airport in New York City. The aircraft had a Mughal décor and it felt like a flying palace. The exquisite sari-clad cabin crew, the smell of the newly furbished interiors and the ambience, the roar of the jets, and the food and drinks, all had mesmerising appeal. After cement, Adani to foray into healthcare
Billionaire Gautam Adani's group has created a new company for its foray into healthcare services through the acquisition of large hospitals, diagnostic chains and offline and digital pharmacies. Adani Enterprises Ltd. - the group's business incubator firm - in a regulatory filing said a wholly owned subsidiary, Adani Health Ventures Ltd. (AHVL) was incorporated on May 17. AHVL will "carry on the business of healthcare-related activities, including, inter alia, setting up, running, administrating medical and diagnostic facilities, health aids, health tech-based facilities, research centres and to do all other allied and incidental activities in this regard," it said. Planto, a Hong Kong-based online banking solutions provider, has partnered with Cogo, a New Zealand-headquartered carbon footprint tracking fintech firm, to develop a software for the city’s banks that encourages consumers and small businesses to cut their greenhouse gas emissions. The carbon footprint calculator that they have jointly developed will allow consumers and small businesses to see the carbon emissions associated with their daily spending or operations, and give them suggestions on how to lower their impact, executives told the Post . “People care more and want to know more about sustainability, but they don’t know what actions they can take to reduce their footprint. A pediatrician in Kentucky was arrested on a federal charge related to an alleged murder-for-hire scheme. Stephanie Russell, 52, of Louisville, Kentucky , contacted someone on May 15 who she allegedly hired to murder her ex-husband, according to court records. The children’s doctor allegedly agreed to pay that individual – an undercover FBI employee – $7,000 in exchange for murdering her ex-husband. Russell placed $3,500 outside her medical office in a drop box as half of the payment on May 18, according to a federal criminal complaint and arrest warrant issued Thursday. She allegedly agreed to pay the other half once the murder took place. The FBI arrested Russell on May 19.
