Bosch may have come to an end on Prime Video, but you cannot keep a good detective down for long. Or, as is the case here, you cannot stop a popular TV detective from getting a spin-off. Bosch: Legacy is the name of that spin-off, in which Titus Welliver returns as the grizzled detective alongside former enemy Honey Chandler (Mimi Rogers). Though the two stars return, there are some big differences that separate the original Bosch from this new show on a new streaming service. The Freevee spin-off is streaming now. And while you might have streaming service fatigue right now, the new service has one major perk that Bosch fans will definitely want to take advantage of. How is Bosch: Legacy linked to the original Bosch ? While some spin-offs will turn supporting characters to leads, or be prequels to the existing show, Legacy is a sequel which maintains Harry Bosch (Welliver) as its lead. Also returning are Rogers as Honey and Madison Lintz as Bosch's daughter … [Read more...] about How to watch the “Bosch Legacy” spin-off—and how it links to the original

Jobless rate falls to lowest since 1974 but wages lag far behind inflation
Britain’s jobless rate has fallen to its lowest level for nearly 48 years, but workers have seen their pay fall further behind rocketing inflation, according to official figures. The rate of unemployment dropped to 3.7% in the three months to March – the lowest since October to December 1974, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said. For the first time, there were fewer unemployed people than vacancies as job openings hit a record 1.3 million, although the fall in the rate – down from 3.8% in the three months to February – was also due to a rise in the number of people dropping out of the jobs market, the figures showed. Calls were mounting for an emergency Budget to offer help amid a crippling cost-of-living crisis as the ONS revealed that regular pay excluding bonuses dropped by 2.9% in March when taking Consumer Prices Index (CPI) inflation into account – the biggest fall since November 2011. Bidenflation Crashes Homebuilder Sentiment to Lowest Level in Two Years
Confidence among home builders in the U.S. lurched downward as inflation took its toll and home affordability continued to plunge. The National Association of Home Builders said that its housing market index, which measures the sentiment of builders of single-family homes, plunged eight points to a score of 69 in May, the lowest level since June of 2020. This is the fifth straight month of deteriorating sentiment. Economists had predicted a milder notching down to 75 from 77. The NAHB said the plunge was a sign that the housing market is now slowing. “Housing leads the business cycle and housing is slowing,” said NAHB Chairman Jerry Konter, a builder and developer from Savannah, Ga. Home builders have been hit by inflation in the costs of building materials, shortages of some materials, a tight labor market, and rising interest rates making homes less affordable to buyers. “The housing market is facing growing challenges,” said NAHB Chief Economist Robert Dietz. … [Read more...] about Bidenflation Crashes Homebuilder Sentiment to Lowest Level in Two Years
Britain’s unemployment rate drops to 3.7 pct, lowest since 1974
LONDON, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Britain's unemployment rate fell to 3.7 percent in the first quarter of 2022, the lowest level since 1974, according to figures released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) on Tuesday. For the first time since ONS' records began, there are fewer unemployed people than job vacancies in the country. And both the employment and inactivity rates increased in the first quarter, said the ONS. The employment rate increased by 0.1 percentage points in the quarter to 75.7 percent, while the economic inactivity rate also increased by 0.1 percentage points to 21.4 percent. The labor market showed a "mixed picture," said Darren Morgan, ONS' director of economic statistics. "Total employment, while up on the quarter, remains below its pre-pandemic level. Since the start of the pandemic, around half a million more people have completely disengaged from the labor market." Both average total pay (including bonuses) and regular pay (excluding bonuses) … [Read more...] about Britain’s unemployment rate drops to 3.7 pct, lowest since 1974
Food prices could rocket by 10% this year for struggling Brits, M&S chief warns
Food prices could soar by 10% this year, the chairman of Marks & Spencer declared today. Brits face another battering from soaring inflation after the warning from Archie Norman, a former Tory MP who leads the upmarket giant. He told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “It wouldn't be surprising to see food price inflation over the course of the year running towards 8% to 10%. “But we don't know that yet because it runs through the year, some has gone through now but quite a lot's still to come.” Asked if food price rises would be “apocalyptic”, he said: “Um, I think, you, you, have to keep it in context.” He said wages were rising well and added he wouldn’t describe it as apocalyptic. It came moments after official figures showed Britain's jobless rate has fallen to its lowest level for over 47 years - yet workers have seen their pay fall as inflation soars. Archie Norman told the BBC: “It wouldn't be surprising to see food price inflation over the course of the year … [Read more...] about Food prices could rocket by 10% this year for struggling Brits, M&S chief warns
Bank of England chief warns over ‘apocalyptic’ food price rises
The Governor of the Bank of England has warned there is “very real income shock” coming from energy prices and “apocalyptic” food prices but stood by the Bank’s policy decisions. Andrew Bailey said he felt “helpless” as he defended the bank of England’s monetary policy despite households being battered by soaring inflation. Mr Bailey told MPs at the Treasury Select Committee on Monday that UK consumer demand will be impacted by current inflation, which is the highest in 30 years, and this is expected to cause higher unemployment. The Office for National statistics recorded inflation at 7% in March and later this week is expected to unveil over 8% inflation for last month. Heartbroken widower pays tribute to murdered PCSO Julia James who ‘couldn’t do enough’
A heartbroken husband has paid tribute to a PCSO who “couldn’t do enough” for others as a “strange, highly sexualised” loner was found guilty of her brutal murder. Speaking outside court, widowed Paul James fought back tears as he spoke of his “amazing” wife Julia who was ambushed in the woods while walking her dog in April 2021. Jurors took just over an hour to convict Callum Wheeler, 22, of bludgeoning the 53-year-old grandmother to death with a 3kg railway jack handle. Mr James described his wife, who worked supporting victims of domestic abuse, as the “funniest person I have ever met”, adding: "She just helped everybody, she just couldn't do enough." Cap on energy bills could be reviewed four times a year under Ofgem plans
The price cap on household energy bills could be reviewed every three months under new plans mooted by Ofgem on Monday. The energy regulator said that it might insert two new reviews a year, one in January and another in July. It would help pass on savings from a potential fall in gas prices to customers more rapidly, Ofgem said, and also protect under-pressure energy suppliers from being damaged by the cap. The regulator is also consulting on plans that could add between £40 and £80 to customers’ bills from this October. Around 23 million households in Great Britain have their energy prices decided by the energy price cap, so any change will have a huge impact on wallets across the country. Recommended Coleen Rooney to resume evidence in Rebekah Vardy court battle - live ‘Putin likely to have lost third of troops in Ukraine’ – follow live “Today’s proposed change would mean the price cap is more reflective of current market prices … [Read more...] about Cap on energy bills could be reviewed four times a year under Ofgem plans
Treasury ministers suggest no imminent new help to ease cost-of-living pressures
Rishi Sunak and his Treasury ministers have suggested new measures to help ease cost-of-living pressures are being developed but will not be introduced imminently. Chief Secretary to the Treasury Simon Clarke said the Chancellor will bring forward a programme of measures at a time when they will “make the right difference in a targeted way”. Mr Sunak later said he “stands ready to do more” but said this is part of a “broader plan”. The Office for National statistics recorded inflation at 7% in March and on Wednesday it is expected to unveil a figure of 8% for April. The Bank of England has said inflation is likely to peak at 10.25% during the final quarter of 2022.
