Unemployment dropped another notch, from 3.6% to 3.5%, matching the more than 50-year low reached just before the pandemic took hold. The economy has now recovered all 22 million jobs lost in March and April 2020 when COVID-19 slammed the U.S. The red-hot numbers were reported Friday by the Labor Department. Economists had expected only 250,000 new jobs last month, in a drop-off from June’s revised 398,000. Instead, July proved to be the best month since February. ___ Hourly workers still have leverage as US hiring booms NEW YORK (AP) — As inflation skyrockets, hourly workers keep changing jobs in pursuit of higher wages. Latest Version of Reconciliation Bill Raises Taxes on Small Businesses

August 7, 2022 by www.breitbart.com

The latest iteration of the Senate Democrats’ reconciliation bill, known as the “Inflation Reduction Act,” would raise taxes on thousands of small and mid-sized businesses across the country, according to Americans for Tax Reform (ATR). Senate Democrats changed the language of their new minimum corporate book tax, which would now hit small and midsized businesses well below the $1 billion profit threshold the tax intended to hit. The new tax would impose a 15 percent minimum tax on the book income of “applicable corporations.” However, the latest change to the book tax would impact any business with private equity in its capital structure. As John Kartch, vice president of ATR’s communications, said , “Any business that has [private equity] in its capital structure is now considered a subsidiary of that firm and thus subject to 15% book tax.” BREAKING: Dem bill raises taxes on small and mid-sized businesses. Any business that has PE in its capital structure is now … [Read more...] about Latest Version of Reconciliation Bill Raises Taxes on Small Businesses
