The members of ITAAP (Information Technology Association of Andhra Pradesh) met IT Minister Gudivada Amarnath in Visakhapatnam on Monday. The ITAAP team led by Sridhar Kosaraju, Narayana Rao and O. Naresh Kumar discussed various issues such as various initiatives to fast track IT investments in Visakhapatnam and also requested the Minister to release the pending incentives. The Minister was also informed about the starting of a full-fledged film lab in Symbiosys at the IT Park in Rushikonda. The ITAAP members also discussed about getting the Internet exchange (NIXI) to Visakhapatnam to speed up Internet and reduce bandwidth costs. The Minister was also asked to get the CDAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing) to Visakhapatnam and speed up the setting of the STPI incubation centre in Viskhapatnam in coordination with Andhra University. Andhra Pradesh: IIPE aims at becoming energy hub for the country
The Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE), which was established in 2016 by an Act of Parliament and is an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, is currently focussing on becoming the energy hub of the country. The institute, recognised as the ‘Institution of National Importance’, is working towards becoming the think tank for the energy needs of the country. ATC Tires Director Toshio Fujiwara, along with representatives of his company, called on Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday and invited him to inaugurate the plant set up at Atchuthapuram in Visakhapatnam and ready for launch in August this year. ATC - The Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. is a Japan-based company that formed a joint tires group (ATC) with subsidiary companies and has emerged as a world leader in the off-highway tire (OHT) business. Over the years, the company has spread over to 120 countries on six continents. In India, ATC has two manufacturing plants, one at Tirunelveli (Tamil Nadu) and in Dahej (Gujarat). The Visakhapatnam Cooperative Bank (VCB) Limited Chairman Chalasani Raghavendra Rao has alleged that political interference is increasing in the functioning of cooperative banks, which is leading to the disintegration of the cooperative sector. Addressing a media conference here on Tuesday, Mr. Raghavendra Rao said that in the name of reforms, the Centre was amending the Banking Regulation Act and imposing several restrictions, to the detriment of shareholders and depositors of cooperative urban banks. Visakhapatnam Cooperative Bank was established in 1916, and the cooperative movement and several other cooperative urban banks were launched much before the RBI came into existence. He said that the bank was taking legal recourse against the amendments made to the Banking Regulation Act. Even after 15 months, mystery still shrouds the death of 18-year-old B.Tech., first-year student Muvvala Nagesh of Nuvvalarevu Village, Vajrapukotturu, Palasa, who was found dead under J.R Puram Police Station limits in January 2021, in Srikakulam district. The parents of the youth urge the government to take action against the accused in the case. They also seek action against the engineering college management and the local police for their alleged negligence in the case. Andhra Govt Signs Pact With GMR Group for Development of Bhogapuram Airport Near Visakhapatnam
Decks have now been fully cleared for the development of a new international greenfield airport at Bhogapuram near Visakhapatnam as the Andhra Pradesh government on Friday signed a concession agreement with project developer GMR Airports Ltd. On March 4, the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy cabinet decided to permit the GMR group to go ahead with the development of the Bhogapuram International Airport in the Public-Private Partnership mode and approved the "highest bid" offered by GMR. However, GMR would be given only 2,200 acres of land as against 2,703 originally proposed, with the state government deciding to develop the remaining land on its own. The Anakapalli district police on Friday arrested two youth involved in a series of bike thefts in Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli and East Godavari districts, at Payakaraopeta on Friday. The police have seized 24 stolen bikes from them. The arrested were identified as U. Rajesh Babu (26) of Chinna Gantyada, Gajuwaka, and U. Nagaraju (25) of Amalapuram, Konaseema district, and a resident of Thatichetlapalem Addressing a press conference at Payakaraopeta Police Station on Friday, Additional S.P Narsipatnam Sub-division, Ch. Manikanta, said that the Payakaraopeta police teams had found two persons roaming in suspicious manner at Aratakotla village. Visakhapatnam Cooperative Bank declares 10% dividend to shareholders
The Visakhapatnam Cooperative Bank (VCB) Limited has announced a dividend of 10% to its shareholders for the 2021-22 fiscal. This decision was unanimously approved at the 107 th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the bank here on Sunday. Presiding over the meeting, VCB Chairman Chalasani Raghavendra Rao, traced the origin and growth of the bank during its 106 years of operations. The bank today has 46 branches in Andhra Pradesh and four in Hyderabad of Telangana State, making it the only multi-State cooperative bank in Andhra Pradesh with over 25 ATMs. The banks deposits stood at ₹3,889.28 crore and advances were ₹2,863.54 crore, with a total business of ₹6,752.82 crore as on March 31, 2022. The total share capital of the bank was ₹272 crore and the total membership was 92,000 and the net NPA of the bank stood at 0.47% as on March 31, 2022.
