The Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium is experiencing a period of rejuvenation, adding new exhibits and exciting species each year.Until now, rejuvenation has meant taking old exhibits and replacing them with new ones. But this year, the zoo is breaking new ground.On Thursday, the Omaha zoo will open the first phase of Asian Highlands, an 8-acre, $22 million exhibit on a previously undeveloped hillside on the northern end of the grounds. The shady hillside has hosted little more than prairie dogs and the occasional special engagement over the years. So in a way, the zoo is expanding its borders.The project is split into two phases, with the latter set for a spring 2019 opening. By Chris D'Angelo The Bureau of Land Management is reviewing a pair of proposals to relocate wild horses from the western United States to Guyana and Russia, part of an ongoing effort to manage the growing population. British cowboy and philanthropist Stan Brock told HuffPost he has been working with the governments of the U.S. and Guyana for several years to develop a plan to transport mustangs to the South American country. Brock managed Guyana’s remote Dadanawa Ranch, one of the world’s largest cattle ranches, in the 1950s and ’60s. He later moved to the U.S. and in 1985 founded Remote Area Medical, a nonprofit that provides free medical and veterinary care. "Ruslan Boshirov" was identified by British investigators as one of the two suspects wanted for the novichok poisoning of Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia on March 4. But the website Bellingcat said Boshirov was in fact Anatoliy Chepiga, and he was a colonel who was honored as a hero of the Russian Federation in 2014. It said that Chepiga was born in the Amur region near the Chinese border, was 39 years old and had trained at the elite Far-Eastern Military Command Academy in Blagoveschensk. After graduating with honors, he served in the second Chechen war, as well as in the conflict in Ukraine.
