Man accused of being abusive shares last conversation with partner day before she died
A man accused of being abusive has revealed his last conversation with his ex-partner claiming they were "very much in love" when she was found dead the next day. An inquest into the death of Jessica Laverack, known as Jessie, heard how she had moved to East Yorkshire from Rotherham in 2017 to escape her ex-boyfriend Patrick Walsh. But Mr Walsh, who described Jessie as his fiancé, is said to have found out where she lived and sent her a letter before turning up at her home unannounced, Hull Live reports. Jessie, 34, was found dead at her home in Beverley on February 2, 2018, with a handwritten note which read "I'm sober and will stay that way. I also know I'm scared of you and that's so hard to say out loud and tell you that." The inquest at Hull Coroners Court heard how police had charged Mr Walsh with assaulting Jessie, but the case was dropped at court when she withdrew the claim. Jessie Laverak had moved to Beverley to escape her ex, but he denies these allegations … [Read more...] about Man accused of being abusive shares last conversation with partner day before she died
Teenager metres from being crushed by collapsing house casually keeps on walking
This the extraordinary moment a falling wall crushes a car metres from a student who then strolls on by as if nothing had happened. Calm and collected Ryan Puttick was making his way along a road in Christchurch, Dorset on May 21. Suddenly the top portion of a house's side wall tears away and crashes down into the road below. Instead of panicking or running away, the 17-year-old nonchalantly carries on his journey after a large part of the house smashed down into the road metres away from him. In footage of the incident captured on a doorbell camera a strong wind can be seen and heard whipping across the scene. As the teenager, hunched over against the breeze, passes a writhing tree a triangle shaped section of bricks comes loose. How do you think you would of reacted? Tell us in the comments below. Rikki Neave killer jailed for murdering boy, 6, and hiding naked body in woods
A murderer has been jailed for life for killing a six-year-old boy almost three decades ago. James Watson, 41, lured little Rikki Neave to the woods near his home in Peterborough before killing him on November 28, 1994. He throttled the boy from behind with a ligature or anorak collar , to fulfil a "morbid fantasy" he had told his mother about three days before. Watson, then 13, stripped Rikki and posed his naked body in a star shape for sexual gratification, deliberately "exhibiting" him near a children's woodland den. The monster was found guilty of murder earlier this year after an 11-week trial at the Old Bailey. He was today sentenced to life with a minimum term of 15 years. Largest ever snake weighing 98kg and reaching 18ft captured with 122 eggs in belly
A whopping 98kg python has been caught in Florida - believed to be the biggest in the state's history. Experts caught the 18-foot female in December 2021, after using a male like a "magnet" to track it down. The Burmese python was discovered in the Everglades, where biologists wrestled with it for 20 minutes. The snake was eventually captured and killed, before being put in a freezer for several months. It is estimated that she was up to 20 years old when caught, and was the approximate height of a giraffe if stretched out vertically. Pythons have become pests in Florida as invasive snakes with no major predators, out-competing native species. The beast was approximately the size of a giraffe if spread vertically ( Image: SWNS) Wildlife biologist Ian Bartoszek said: "This season we tracked a male scout snake to a region of the western Everglades that he frequented for several weeks. "We knew he was there for a reason, and the team found him with the … [Read more...] about Largest ever snake weighing 98kg and reaching 18ft captured with 122 eggs in belly
