A forthcoming documentary suggests a Hobart woman who's serving a life sentence in prison for her role in two killings may have been a serial killer who also fed the remains of her dismembered lover to neighbors at a barbecue in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.Investigation Discovery, a crime-themed cable network that reaches 85 million U.S. households, will air the true crime thriller "Dead North" about Kelly Cochran, a Northwest Indiana woman who pleaded guilty to the 2016 murder of her husband, Jason Cochran, at their home on the 7100 block of Mississippi Street of Hobart. Cochran told Hobart police she injected her husband with heroin and smothered him with a pillow as revenge for the murder of her lover Christopher Regan, who she lured to her other home in Iron River, Michigan, with the promise of sex. THE BIG IDEA: Get ready for Macron-mania. Donald Trump was the first president since Calvin Coolidge, a century ago, not to welcome a foreign leader for a state visit during his first year in office. Fifteen months into his presidency, Trump is finally rolling out the red carpet for French President Emmanuel Macron. The country’s tricolor flag is flying all over downtown, and three days of events are planned in the capital city. After Macron lands this afternoon, the presidents and their wives will take a helicopter to Mount Vernon, George Washington’s home, for a sunset dinner on the terrace overlooking the Potomac. Trump and Macron will meet one-on-one tomorrow morning in the Oval Office. Vice President Pence will host a lunch for Macron at the State Department, and he will tour Arlington National Cemetery. UPDATE: Former high ranking Lake County police commander Daniel Murchek is indicted in the towing bribery scandal CROWN POINT — Dan Murchek, a former high-ranking administrator, is charged and will plead guilty to lying to the FBI about his involvement in the deepening Region towing bribery scandal.The U.S. Attorney's office made public early Friday a one-count indictment against Murchek, shortly after the 24-year veteran of the Lake County police force ended his law enforcement career with an abrupt resignation.U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge John E. Martin arraigned Murchek, 57, of Schererville on the felony, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
