Women are now seen as little more than ‘living wombs’

June 30, 2022 by www.independent.co.uk

The supposed “land of the free” is the latest of a growing list of countries who have infantilised women, as no longer having the right to control their own bodies, thanks to the overturning of Roe v Wade . This once-landmark decision making it clear that the US constitution protects a pregnant woman’s liberty to choose an abortion has been eschewed in favour of individual states deciding their own abortion laws. As a barrister, I am sometimes criticised for supposedly “not respecting” the integrity of the rule of law. Well, it is my view that the criminalisation of abortion shows that we are not all accountable to the same laws. The law is made by men, for men: to control, dominate and subjugate women. The law has no place regulating our bodies. Yet thanks to Roe v Wade , women are now seen as little more than “living wombs”. This week, 13 US states made abortion illegal – and that figure is predicted to rise to 26 out of the 50 states. The ruling … [Read more...] about Women are now seen as little more than ‘living wombs’

New Zelensky biography reveals first meeting with Putin: ‘bundle of nerves’

June 30, 2022 by www.newsweek.com

When Russia's Vladimir Putin began a military invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, it was widely assumed that Ukraine would surrender quickly. Instead, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky—an actor-turned-politician famous for playing an actor-turned-politician in Servant of the People —refused to budge, withstood multiple assassination attempts and rallied his people to fight. He pleaded with the international community to implement sanctions on the Russians and to provide weapons and ammunition for the Ukrainians. How did Zelensky accomplish this transformation? Where did he first take Putin's measure? Read about it in this exclusive advance look from Ukrainian journalist and political commentator Serheii Rudenko's upcoming Zelensky: A Biography (Polity Books, July 18), in which he explores Zelensky's life and governing style, from his childhood through the beginnings of the war. In the beginning was the word. Or rather, several words. And, more precisely, the name of … [Read more...] about New Zelensky biography reveals first meeting with Putin: ‘bundle of nerves’

Tom Cotton: Democrats Try to Profit from Migrant Deaths

June 30, 2022 by www.breitbart.com

Pro-migration liberals are using the truckful of dead migrants to push for even more migration, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) said Wednesday. “Liberals are responding to this tragedy by calling for amnesty,” he tweeted on June 29. “But this would invite MORE illegal immigration, human trafficking, and suffering [and] The last thing we need is to make this border crisis worse–but amnesty would do just that,” he added. Liberals are responding to this tragedy by calling for amnesty. But this would invite MORE illegal immigration, human trafficking, and suffering. The last thing we need is to make this border crisis worse–but amnesty would do just that. — Tom Cotton (@TomCottonAR) June 29, 2022 The Democrats’ effort to shift the public focus towards amnesty for at least 11 million illegal migrants also helps them obscure the central role of their border-opening policies in the June 27 deaths of 51 migrants. The dead migrants were found in a truck, abandoned roughly 150 miles … [Read more...] about Tom Cotton: Democrats Try to Profit from Migrant Deaths

EXCLUSIVE: Clinton Donor ‘Deliriously Happy’ He Escaped Indictment

June 28, 2016 by dailycaller.com

Swiss billionaire and Clinton donor Hansjorg Wyss sat in a packed Washington State courtroom Monday to face his first trial over unsuspecting patients who died when his company used an illegal medical substance. Ultimately, five people died. Four of Wyss’ executives went to prison in the federal case, but Wyss walked free. A woman who accompanied Wyss to Lisbon, Portugal in July 2010 told The Daily Caller News Foundation the Swiss citizen collapsed when he received a phone call from his lawyers telling him the Department of Justice would not indict him.  She reported he was “deliriously happy” at a dinner after the call. At the time he told the woman the government didn’t have enough evidence on him. “They do not have enough on me.  They don’t have enough emails on me,” he reportedly said. Her riveting account about Wyss’ state-of-mind during the Justice Department investigation was given several years ago in a private meeting with this reporter. Interest in the case has … [Read more...] about EXCLUSIVE: Clinton Donor ‘Deliriously Happy’ He Escaped Indictment

Joe Rogan claims Spotify didn’t want some podcast episodes, denies censorship

March 30, 2021 by www.newsweek.com

Podcast host Joe Rogan recently denied facing any censorship at Spotify despite some videos from his YouTube channel not being transferred to the streaming giant as part of a multi-million licensing deal announced in May 2020. "A lot of people are like, 'they're telling Joe Rogan what he can and can't do.' They're no—they're not," Rogan said last month in a podcast with stand-up comedian Fahim Anwar. "Anytime anything gets big enough... there's gonna be strings attached." Anwar said, to which Rogan responded: "Yeah, that's the criticism of me being on Spotify." Rogan said he agreed for episodes to be omitted but future clips wouldn't be policed: "They don't give a f**k man. They haven't given me a hard time at all. There were a few episodes they didn't want on their platform, I was like 'okay, I don't care'. "But other than that, in terms of what I do in the future, the big test was having Alex Jones on... Alex Jones and Tim Dillon was like one of my favorite podcasts." … [Read more...] about Joe Rogan claims Spotify didn’t want some podcast episodes, denies censorship
