Nirmal Kumar, Subramonium Prasad, N. Anand Venkatesh, G.K. Ilanthiraiyan, Krishnan Ramasamy, and C. Saravanan are appointed as Additional Judges for a period of two years. Nine Advocates had been recommended to be elevated to the Bench by the Supreme Court Collegium in December last year, with the then Madras High Court Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Koul having recommended the names in December 2016. Those recommended were C. Emalias, Ms. P.T. Asha, M. Nirmal Kumar, Subramonium Prasad, Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy, N. Anand Venkatesh, G.K. Ilanthiraiyan, Krishnan Ramasamy, and C. Saravanan. The five Judges are: Justice Sanjay Dwivedi Justice Akhil Kumar Srivastava Justice Brij Kishore Shrivastava Justice Rajendra Kumar Srivastava Justice Mohammed Fahim Anwar Further, two Additional Judges- Justice Mohammad Nawaz and Justice Harekoppa Thimmanna Gowda Narendra Prasad- have been appointed to the Karnataka High Court. By another notification Additional Judge of Rajasthan High Court, Justice Ramchandra Singh Jhala has been appointed as a permanent Judge. The Judges recommended to be made permanent by the Collegium comprising Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, Justice J. Chelameswar and Justice Ranjan Gogoi are Justice Krishna Singh and Justice Rajiv Lochan Mehrotra. The Allahabad High Court had, on 20 March 2018, placed names of eight Additional Judges before the Collegium for its consideration. Vide a notification issued on 19 April, the Centre extended Justice Ramendra Jain’s term as an Additional Judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court for a period of six months. The three Judges collegium comprising Chief Justice Dipak Misra, Justice J. Chelameswar and Justice Ranjan Gogoi had first recommended appointment of Justice Jain as a permanent Judge in March this year.
