Marathi actor Ketaki Chitale has been sent to police custody on Sunday till May 18 after she was arrested for allegedly sharing a derogatory post on Facebook about Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar. The verse she posted allegedly made personal attacks on Pawar’s health issues and his demeanour. While Chitale (29), a film and TV actress, was arrested by the Thane police over a post she allegedly shared on her Facebook page, a 23-year-old student, identified as Nikhil Bhamre, was arrested in the Nashik district for allegedly making an objectionable comment against Pawar on Twitter. The post shared by Chitale, which was in verse form, was purportedly written by someone else. It only mentioned the surname Pawar and the age of 80. The NCP supremo is 81 years old. The post contained phrases like “hell is waiting" and “you hate Brahmins", allegedly referring to Pawar whose party shares power in Maharashtra with the Shiv Sena and Congress. A 21-year-old Kannada small screen actor died while undergoing a fat reduction surgery at a private hospital in Bengaluru on Monday. V. Chethana, a resident of Abbigere and daughter of K. Varadaraju, was admitted to Dr. Shetty’s Cosmetic Centre in Rajajinagar for the surgery on Monday. Her family has alleged that she died due to a botched-up procedure. However, the doctor, who performed the procedure, denied that there was any negligence, and said the actor developed fat embolism resulting in pulmonary edema soon after the three-hour procedure. Based on a complaint filed by Mr. Varadaraju, the Subramanyanagar police on Tuesday registered a case under section 174 C of the Cr.PC and are awaiting the post-mortem report. A 27-year-old transwoman model was found dead at a private lodge at Chakkaraparambu near Vyttila on May 17. Sherin Celine Mathew, who belonged to Kuttanad in Alappuzha, was found hanging in her room. Residents staying nearby informed the police and a case of unnatural death has been registered. Sherin, who was active as a model and actor, has been staying in Kochi for quite some time. Her friends told media persons that she had filmed herself committing the act. A few hormone supplements were also found in the room, they said. Hollywood star Kevin Spacey has been charged with four counts of sexual assault against three men, the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said on Thursday. The 62-year-old Oscar-winning American actor, behind famous films such as ‘Usual Suspects’ and ‘American Beauty’ and the Netflix political drama ‘House of Cards’, has also served as artistic director of London’s Old Vic theatre from 2004 to 2015. “The CPS has authorised criminal charges against Kevin Spacey, 62, for four counts of sexual assault against three men,” said Rosemary Ainslie, Head of the CPS Special Crime Division. “He has also been charged with causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent. The survivor in the actor sexual assault case, who recently moved the Kerala High Court alleging attempts to sabotage the investigation, conveyed her grievances to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Thiruvananthapuram on May 26. The actor, who appeared confident while emerging from the discussion that lasted 15 minutes at the Secretariat, said the Chief Minister pledged the government’s wholehearted support towards her cause. “He has responded positively to my concerns and has reassured me the probe will continue in a fair manner,” she said.
