Maharashtra National School of Law to start functioning in 2 years

On Thursday Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, in a press conference said,” The site for Maharashtra National Law University has been finalized, and it is a 54.17 acre land at Kaladongari village in the district. The building construction work of school might start soon.”Maharashtra Law University Act, 2014, came to be notified on 20 March 2014, and it is deemed to have come into force on 18 February 2014 (see here).On Tuesday, the government issued notification in this regard and has issued orders for starting the school of law within two years. The CLAT is scheduled on May 8, 2016; Here is the Syllabus and Pattern For Undergraduate ProgrammeMaximum Marks     : 200 Duration of CLAT-2016 Examination     : 02:00 Hours Total Number of Questions     : 200 Note : 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. The signatories have also condemned the action of lawyers who manhandled the students and faculty members of JNU present at the Patiala Court House premises on 15th February, 2016 The Law school Community including students, alumni and professors of various law universities across the nation have published a statement against the police clamp down on University Spaces in the context of recent events which have unfolded at JNU, involving the arrest of the JNUSU President, Kanhaiya Kumar. Harvard Law School scraps official emblem linked to slavery

Harvard Law School, one of the most prestigious colleges in the world, has decided to scrap its official seal, which features a crest of a notoriously brutal 18th century slaveholder.The crest, which says “Veritas”, the Latin word for truth, and shows three sheaths of wheat, was adopted by the law school in 1930s, after the Royalls, a family of plantation owners and merchants had helped establish Harvard’s first law professorship through a donation.The decision was taken after recommendation by a committee at the law school, which had taken up the issue after a student group called Royalls Must Go demanded that the seal be removed.
