With a snowstorm expected to hit much of the Front Range beginning Monday night and into Tuesday, AAA Colorado provided winter-weather tips for drivers, including advice on packing an emergency kit to keep in the car.During a storm, drivers most often call AAA Colorado about dead batteries or crashes resulting from treadless or under-inflated tires.Before leaving home, drivers should check Colorado Department of Transportation's website at cotrip.org for up-to-date information on road conditions."It doesn't matter what kind of car you drive. Cherwell Software founder named business citizen of year by Colorado Springs chamber
The Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC has named Vance Brown, founder and chairman of Cherwell Software and CEO of the National Cybersecurity Center, as 2018 Business Citizen of the Year, its top award.Brown and two partners started Cherwell in 2004 to come up with software that would help keep computers, networks and other information technology equipment running properly. The company has grown to 480 employees, including 280 at its headquarters in the InterQuest business park, and has landed investments of more than $220 million from private equity giant KKR.He also became CEO of the cybersecurity center last year and led a shift in its role from a membership-based fire department for computer hacks suffered by small businesses into a self-supporting think tank for online security. Memorial stone restoration reminds recreationists of the legacy of El Paso County trail network
In the mid-1990s, on his daily commute by bicycle from Monument to Colorado Springs, Tucker Connally would weave between road and trail, dodge cars and rattle over stretches of railroad tracks, his dad Jim said.Eventually, that ride would be transformed by a contiguous series of trails connecting Palmer Lake to Fountain that thousands of people use ever year. Connally, though, didn’t get to see it completed.In 1998, he was in the passenger seat of a car driving back from a ski trip in Steamboat Springs when the driver lost control. The car collided with a snowplow, killing Connally.Just after Tucker’s death, his parents, Jim and Julie, donated a commemorative stone that was placed at the Edmundson Trailhead off Woodmen Road along the route he rode before there was a connecting trail to Colorado Springs.
