Day at Saratoga race track derails planned David Cassidy plea deal in DWI case

· July 31, 2014 ·

Onetime teen heartthrob David Cassidy, perhaps best-known for his role on the 1970s Partridge Family sitcom, was set to take a plea deal Wednesday in a driving-while-intoxicated case in upstate New York.Because Cassidy lives in Florida, the Schodack Town Court had agreed to let his lawyer enter a plea without the singer and actor being present. However, a tweet by the New York Racing Association derailed that plan, according to the Associated Press and the Daily Gazette (sub. req.).It turns out, Cassidy was spending the day at the Saratoga race track, some 40 miles away. Officials were “disturbed” to learn he was so close at hand, a prosecutor told the Schenectady newspaper, when his lawyer had said he wasn’t able to be present for the hearing. Letter: Support Kumar for another term to Saratoga council

· August 31, 2018 ·

By Letters To The Editor | August 31, 2018 at 7:51 am Rishi Kumar is a special individual. Several years ago, we started a neighborhood watch group in Saratoga Woods, a great, tight-knit community in the city of Saratoga. Rishi came out to our Saratoga Woods Community Association clubhouse and spoke to the entire neighborhood about the benefits of establishing a neighborhood watch group. His enthusiasm, energy and help supported our efforts and we were successful. I appreciate Rishi‘s enthusiasm, his always positive attitude, his hard work and his commitment to “do what he says he will do.” Rishi also values inclusiveness and diversity. He seeks out and welcomes feedback, communicates well with all of our community and always asks if people need help. I feel these are very important leadership qualities in this day and age. I have worked closely with Rishi Kumar for the last two years on the Neighborhood Watch program. Years ago I served in the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department and was a volunteer Neighborhood Watch Safety captain. The Saratoga City Council, with Rishi Kumar taking the lead, has set up about 70 such programs in Saratoga. Saratoga’s residential burglaries have dropped significantly due to the program’s safety recommendations and best practices, which were recommended by the County Sheriff’s Department. Rishi works full time in addition to serving on the City Council. I know he has spent many evenings and weekends working diligently to make our city safe. In addition, he has rallied customers of San Jose Water Company to oppose numerous … [Read more...] about Letter: Rishi Kumar works hard to make Saratoga safe
