They noted that the timeline that had been set for the end of 2015 was nearing, but there was optimism that there could be political agreement in this time. There are still some core compromises needed: for example, in relation to the requirement for a mandatory data protection officer, the question of consent and other grounds for processing data (in particular legitimate interests for processing), but the position is moving toward a consensus. FM Marsudi to campaign for indonesia`s candidacy for UNHRC membership
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Foreign Minister Retno L. P. Marsudi will campaign for Indonesia`s candidacy for membership of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) for the 2020-2022 term during the 40th session of the UN body. The minister is set to attend the 40th session of the UNHRC in Geneva, Switzerland, on Feb 25-28, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Arrmanatha Nasir noted here on Thursday. "(She) will benefit from the UNHRC session to campaign for Indonesia`s candidacy for the UNHRC membership for the 2020-2022 term," he remarked. The UNHRC will elect its members in November 2019. In the campaign, Indonesia will raise the theme "Indonesia True Partner for Democracy, Development and Social Justice." “Bali Nine” Lawrence banned from entering Indonesia for life
Denpasar, Bali, (ANTARA News) - Renae Lawrence, a member of "Bali Nine" drug smugglers, has been banned from re-entering the Indonesian territory for life, after her release and deportation to her home country Australia in November. "Certainly, she would be banned from entering Indonesia for the rest of her life. As of now, she is in the administrative custody in the immigration detention room at the Ngurah Rai Airport, while waiting for her deportation," Head of Bali`s Immigration Office, Agato Simamora, noted during a press conference here on Wednesday. The official release paper of the only female member of the nine drug smuggling group was announced on Wednesday, after she had served 13 years behind bars from her actual 20 years of imprisonment. Surabaya, E Java (ANTARA News) - Indonesia`s media industry would "never die" in this digital era as long as journalists and employees remain professional, qualified, and competent, Communication and Informatics Minister Rudiantara said. Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the 2019 National Press Day`s exhibition here on Thursday, Feb 7, Rudiantara stated he believed that the media workers` awareness of the importance of upgrading skills and holding professional ethics would help them survive. Hence, digitalization is just a way of disseminating the media`s contents.
