Justice CK Prasad Gets Second Term As Press Council Of India Chairman [Read Notification]

The decision was reportedly taken by a three-member committee headed by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu in a meeting held last week. Justice Prasad had taken over from Justice Markanday Katju in November, 2014. More recently, journalists from eight media houses had issue a statement expressing “grave concern” about the decisions taken by Justice Prasad to form the 13th Press Council. They had alleged that he had “overlooked precedence and adopted a process to keep out certain media associations and candidates”. Delhi HC Tells Distressed Rattan India To Give 10-Day Notice To BHEL Before Invoking Bank Guarantee [Read Order]

Share Tweet Plus One Pin It Email Print By: akanksha jain November 6, 2018 8:23 pm Change Font Size The Delhi High Court has directed Rattan India Nasik Power Ltd, formerly called Indiabulls Power, to give at least 10-day notice to Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL) in case it intends to invoke or encash its bank guarantee of Rs 263 crore submitted by the latter under phase -I of the Nasik and Amravati Thermal Power Project. Justice Rajiv Shakdher passed the order after BHEL moved court seeking protection against possible invocation of bank guarantees in light of the financial distress Rattan India is in as it reportedly reels under a debt of over Rs 20,000 crore. Khanna Memorial Lecture.I remember the days of Emergency when we, the public, were very unaware of what was happening as there was total censorship of newspapers.During the height of emergency, the people of the country were wholly unaware of what was happening in regard to the challenges which would have an impact upon the future of the country. During these times, I myself had appeared in various political detention matters in the Karnataka High Court and in matters such as the dismissal of the Karunanidhi Government on 31st January, 1976 just before the General Elections were to be held in Tamil Nadu State, really with intention of eliminating the political rival in the State.
