A disagreement at a West St. Paul City Council meeting this week may have prompted a prankster to put a box of tissues and a box of tampons outside the mayor’s home. West St. Paul Mayor Jenny Halverson said Wednesday in a Facebook post that someone placed the items outside her home, as well as at the home of resident Samantha Green, “under the cover of night.” She included pictures of the items, which had bows on them. “We will not be intimidated,” she wrote in her post. At Monday night’s council meeting, Halverson recommended that Green and two other women be appointed to the city’s planning commission. After the appointment of Green failed on a 4-2 vote, Halverson said, “This will not be forgotten, folks.” Earlier in the meeting, Halverson announced that she would not seek re-election this fall and called upon “all the women in West St. Paul to step up this year” and run for local office. “For the last six years … [Read more...] about Tampons, tissues placed at home of West St. Paul mayor

Philip Bump, The Washington Post Published 12:53 pm PDT, Thursday, October 18, 2018 NEW YORK - News that residents at 200 Riverside Boulevard had voted to remove the the words "TRUMP PLACE" from their building on Manhattan's Upper West Side prompted Greg Schlotthauer, 51, to hop on his bike, don his anti-Trump button and head up to the scene to watch the action unfold. He arrived before the bucket truck that would carry out the task. In the cold, whipping wind, he and other spectators watched as the crews got to work. "Yay!" Schlotthauer hollered as they pulled one of the letters of Trump's last name off of the building. "Thank you!" Given the strength of the wind, it's unlikely the workers heard Schlotthauer's cheers. The scene unfolding was the culmination of a legal battle between the Trump Organization and the condo board of 200 Riverside Boulevard, which earlier this year asked a New York judge to determine if it had the right to remove its own signs. The judge … [Read more...] about Onlookers cheer as ‘Trump Place’ is pried from condo building
PUBLISHED: 11:01 16 July 2018 | UPDATED: 11:01 16 July 2018 West Suffolk House in Bury St Edmunds Picture: PHIL MORLEY Archant West Suffolk residents are being urged to complete and return their annual canvass form to ensure they do not lose their voice on matters which affect them. With local elections, including those for the new West Suffolk Council, taking place in May 2019, residents are being reminded to make sure they can take part. The form ensures that west Suffolk councils can keep the electoral register up to date and identify any residents who are not registered so that they can be encouraged to do so. This will mean that residents will be able take part in any future elections. Ian Gallin, electoral registration officer at west Suffolk councils, said: “It’s important that residents respond as soon as possible, so we can make sure we have the right details on the electoral register for every address in west Suffolk. “To make sure you are able to … [Read more...] about West Suffolk residents urged to look out for voter registration details in post
