It comes as 111 flood alerts and 72 flood warnings have been issued in England , 14 of which have been declared for Somerset. The Environment Agency says the decision to declare a major incident at this time is a “precautionary move and will mean partners become more coordinated and ready to support and take action should the situation worsen.” The recent heavy rain has triggered widespread flooding of the Somerset Levels and Moors, designed to store flood water when the rivers flowing through them burst their banks. Enhanced pumping began on Tuesday evening at Northmoor to reduce the amount of water being stored until river levels allow pumping to resume at Currymoor, which remains full. A man in New Jersey has spoken about his joy at discovering buried treasure on his property as he renovated his home, according to reports. Richard Gilson found buried treasure from the 1930s after he began digging a hole as part of his renovations on Friday at his home in Wildwood, according to a 3CBS Philly report. Speaking to 3CBS Philly, Gilson said he had been renovating his home for the last two years when he stumbled across the buried treasure in the form of rolled up $10 and $20 bills all with the same date on them, 1934. "Somebody went under there with a little shovel and buried that thing under there," Gilson said. "They were hiding that money from somebody for something. You'd be surprised. You think your digging someplace nobody's been and you find something that was there a long time ago." The actress has been accused of crashing into a man while skiing and seriously injuring him. Lawyers for the mother-of-two told the court at the end of the first week of testimony in Park City, Utah, that Apple Martin, 18, and Moses Martin, 16, would be called as witnesses on Monday. (AP) — Walter Cole, better known as the iconic drag queen who performed for decades as Darcelle XV and a fearless advocate for Portland’s LGBTQ+ community, has died of natural causes in Portland, Oregon. He was 92. Darcelle, who died Thursday, was crowned the world’s oldest working drag performer in 2016 by the Guinness Book of World Records and was regaling audiences until the very end. As a performer, Darcelle was known for hosting the longest-running drag show on the U.S. West Coast. Off stage, Cole, an Army veteran, championed LGBTQ+ rights and charitable work in Portland. The nightclub that Darcelle opened more than 50 years ago in downtown Portland, Darcelle XV Showplace, posted a statement on Facebook expressing grief and asking for privacy and patience.
