Your rights if getting stuck abroad or at the airport means you have to miss work
Flight delays and cancellations have seen Brits ending up stuck abroad for extra days this half term - meaning families are missing days at work and school. The teacher couple and their two kids ended up missing school because of the delays. While their headteachers were understanding and grateful they were kept in the loop, bosses can come down hard on absent employees if they want. Prince Andrew ‘won’t be cast out’ by royals in case he writes tell-all book, expert says
Prince Andrew won't be "cast out" by the royals and will be made financially secure to stop him from writing a tell-all book, a royal expert has claimed. The Duke of York stepped down from royal duties in the wake of a sex scandal earlier this year and had his military titles and royal patronages stripped from him. He denied the allegations against him and later came to an out of court settlement with his accuser . The settlement is not an admission of guilt. He was forced to remain out of sight during the Garter Day procession earlier this month after a "family decision" was taken to limit his appearance to a behind-the-scenes lunch and investiture ceremony. Prince Andrew, who has stepped away from public life ( Image: Getty Images) The duke also missed out on the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations due to Covid, although is reportedly a frequent visitor to see his mother at Windsor Castle. ‘Cold and calculating’ child rapist has sentence slashed because it was ‘too harsh’
A child rapist described as "cold and calculating" by a judge had his sentence slashed by the Court of Appeal. Brandon Mullin, now 20, was sent to a young offenders institution for 13 years with an additional three years on licence at Liverpool Crown Court in November, 2021. However his legal team launched an appeal on the grounds the sentence was unduly harsh, the Liverpool Echo reports. Lawyers for Mullin argued the boy's own traumatic upbringing and immaturity had not been reflected in the sentence and three years have been knocked from the period of detention. The judge who passed the original sentence, Garrett Byrne, said the victims of Mullin's abuse had been subjected to the "worst neglect he had ever seen" at the hands of their mum. Judge Byrne said the two children and their other brothers and sisters grew up in a chaotic and filthy environment without adequate food and clothing, basic hygiene, medical care, any toys or love. The mum of the victims, who cannot … [Read more...] about ‘Cold and calculating’ child rapist has sentence slashed because it was ‘too harsh’
