US military chiefs are said to be preparing a devastating series of missile strikes against Bashar Al-Assad after 70 were killed in a suspected nerve gas attack. Harrowing pictures show medics desperately battling to keep gassed children alive after the dictator's jets 'dropped a deadly cocktail of chlorine and Sarin gas' on the rebel-held town of Douma. Anti-regime groups say Assad's forces dropped chlorine bombs on a hospital and a block of flats in the area yesterday following the collapse of a truce on Friday. President Trump said the "mindless chemical attack" leaves Assad's allies in Moscow and Tehran with blood on their hands. Mr Trump wrote: "Many dead, including women and children, in mindless CHEMICAL attack in Syria. PM May to Face ‘Angry’ Parliament Over No-Vote Syria Strikes
LONDON (AP) – Prime Minister Theresa May is set to face British lawmakers to explain her decision to launch airstrikes against Syria without a vote in Parliament. Britain, the United States and France hit targets in Syria Saturday in response to a reported chemical attack in Douma.Parliament returns Monday after a spring break, and was not consulted about the action. The government is not legally bound to seek Parliament’s approval for military strikes, though it is customary to do so. May plans to tell lawmakers that the airstrikes were “in Britain’s national interest,” were carried out to stop further suffering from chemical weapons attacks and had broad international support. The government says it will seek an emergency parliamentary debate on the airstrikes Monday, though that is unlikely to satisfy angry opposition lawmakers.
