This reorganization will entail the following consequences as regards judiciary : The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir will be a common High Court for UT of J&K and Ladakh (Sec.75) Judges of existing HC of J&K will continue in the High Court for both the UTs The law in force in respect of procedure in HC of J&K will continue in the common HC for the UTs Advocate General for UT of J&K The Lieutenant Governor can appoint a person who is qualified to be appointed a Judge of the High Court, to be Advocate-General for the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. BCI Chairman Manan Kumar Mishra congratulated the Union government on the "historic and landmark decision". On July 10, 2019, a Committee was constituted by the NLSIU Executive Council, under the Chairmanship of Supreme Court Judge, Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde. Other members of the committee included retired SC Judge, Justice V. Gopala Gowda, sitting SC Judge, Justice Mohan M. Shantanagoudar, NLSIU Professor Dr. V. S. By: Live Law News Network 3 Aug 2019 5:57 AM GMT A UAPA tribunal headed by Delhi High Court sitting judge Justice Mukta Gupta has upheld the five year extension of the ban on Students Islamic Movement of India(SIMI) notified by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs on January 31 this year. It is understood from sources familiar with the development that the tribunal passed the order on July 29 holding that there were valid reasons to ratify the extension of ban. The Tribunal, under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967(UAPA), was constituted by a notification of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on February 21, 2019. As per Section 4(1) of the UAPA, a declaration of an association as unlawful by the Central Government should be referred to a Tribunal consisting of a sitting High Court judge within thirty days of notification of the ban.
