Back to Normal? Cannes Film Festival Prepares to Party
(Associated Press) After the 2020 Cannes Film Festival was canceled by the pandemic and the 2021 edition was scaled back — even kisses were forbade on the red carpet — the lavish French Riviera cinema soiree is set to return with a festival that promises to be something like normal. Or at least Cannes’ very particular brand of normal, where for 12 days formal wear and film mingle in sun-dappled splendor, stopwatch-timed standing ovations stretch for minutes on end and director names like “Kore-eda” and “Denis” are spoken with hushed reverence. What passes for the usual at Cannes has never been especially ordinary, but it has proven remarkably resilient to the fluctuations of time. Since its first festival, in 1946 on the heels of World War II, Cannes has endured as a maximalist spectacle that puts world cinema and Cote d’Azur glamour in the spotlight. This year marks Cannes’ 75 anniversary. “Hopefully it will back to a normal Cannes now,” says Ruben Östlund, who returns … [Read more...] about Back to Normal? Cannes Film Festival Prepares to Party
Nolte: Chris Rock Says ‘Believe All Women… Except Amber Heard’
Comedian Chris Rock took aim at the #MeToo fascists by ridiculing Amber Heard’s alleged bed-shitting incident. “Believe all women, believe all women… except Amber Heard,” Rock said during a comedy show in London last week. What the fuck is she on? She shit in his bed! She’s fine, but she’s not shitting fine. She shit in his bed. Once you shit in someone’s bed, you just guilty of everything… What the fuck is going on there? Wow. And they had a relationship after that. It must be amazing pussy… I’ve been with some crazy bitches but, Goddammit. Rock is referring to April 28 testimony by Starling Jenkins III, Johnny Depp’s one-time chauffeur. Depp filed a $50 million defamation suit against Heard, his ex-wife, over claims he physically abused her. The trial launched on April 11, and one of the key moments was Jenkins’s testimony that in 2016 Heard told him about a “surprise” she left on Depp’s side of the bed after one of their fights. The “surprise,” according to Jenkins, … [Read more...] about Nolte: Chris Rock Says ‘Believe All Women… Except Amber Heard’

Nolte: Netflix Kills a Slew of Woketard Programming
Netflix just announced the death of a slew of woketard shows, including an obvious abomination called Antiracist Baby . From far-left Variety : Netflix has pulled the plug on several animated projects, including “Wings of Fire,” from executive producer Ava DuVernay; “Antiracist Baby,” a series aimed at preschoolers; and “With Kind Regards From Kindergarten,” a film tailored to youngsters. The streaming service also scrapped “Stamped: Racism, Antiracism and You,” a documentary intended to serve as a companion piece to “Stamped From the Beginning, which is a hybrid documentary and scripted feature that delves into race in the United States. “Stamped From the Beginning” is still moving forward and is currently in post-production. And then Netflix adds this insult to injury… Sources at Netflix stress the decisions not to move forward with these projects were creative rather than cost related, meaning they would have taken place regardless of the company’s slower … [Read more...] about Nolte: Netflix Kills a Slew of Woketard Programming
