Shocking footage shows a man in distinctive shorts strolling along a Liverpool street with a gun in his hand.

The clip, shared with the Liverpool Echo, is believed to have been taken on May 19 – when police received calls of shots fired.

The man, sporting a pair of pink and purple shorts and a T-shirt, is seen walking past several parked cars before appearing to enter a block of flats.

It was taken in Ivy Avenue in Garston.

In a statement after shots were reportedly fired, Merseyside Police said: “We were contacted at 8.20pm (on May 19) to reports loud bangs had been heard.

“A search of the area was carried out.

“No damage was discovered and there were no reports of anyone being injured but casings were recovered. A further search of area will be carried out today.

“At 10.55pm last night a further call was received of a disturbance in Ivy Avenue, damage being caused to cars and a caravan on fire.”

The force spokesman added: “It is believed at this stage that the two incidents are linked and investigations are currently under way.”

This video has since emerged, showing a man walking through the area carrying a gun.

Police are thought to already be aware of the footage.

Two men were arrested following the incidents but no arrests were made in relation to any firearms offences as officers believe the shots heard came from a blank firing weapon.

It is not known if the man in the video is one of those people arrested.

A police spokesman said: “We can confirm that an investigation is ongoing following an incident in Garston in May.

“At around 8.20pm on Tuesday, May 19, officers were called to Ivy Avenue to reports loud bangs had been heard.

“A search of the area was carried out and damage or injuries reported. No evidence was found of a shooting, and it is believed a blank firing weapon was fired.

“At 10.55pm, a further call was received of a disturbance in Ivy Avenue, damage being caused to cars and a caravan on fire.

“A 44 year-old man was arrested for affray, criminal damage and s18 assault, and remains under investigation.”
