Samsung Galaxy S11 ‘to feature 5G, HUGE 108-megapixel camera and 5x superzoom’

SAMSUNG’S next flagship phone will come packed with 5G and a groundbreaking camera, according to the latest leaks.

The Samsung Galaxy S11, rumoured for launch in February, will apparently boast a bonkers 108-megapixel main snapper.

That’s nine times the quality offered by Apple’s latest handset – the iPhone 11 Pro – which has a 12-megapixel camera widely considered the best ever built into a smartphone.

As well as a superb main camera, the S11 will come with separate ultrawide and telephoto zoom lenses, sources told Bloomberg.

That ‘superzoom’ lens will allegedly be capable of an impressive five times magnification, a massive step up from the 11 Pro’s 2x zoom.

The leak lines up with multiple previous leaks, which have suggested the phone will come with as many as five cameras.

It’s also presumed that the S11 will come with 5G, the long-awaited upgrade to mobile internet that promises super fast downloads.

Only a handful of phones currently offer 5G, as they need special hardware installed in them to connect to 5G masts.

However, when the next wave of mobile phone microchips rolls out next year, we’ll see the number of 5G-ready phones skyrocket.

Earlier this week, Qualcomm, makers of the ubiquitous Snapdragon phone chips, announced its next flagship chip will come with 5G, according to TechRadar.

Out in the first quarter of 2020, the Snapdragon 865 will almost certainly be loaded into Samsung’s 2020 handsets.

The South Korean firm has used Qualcomm’s flagship chip for nearly every major release of the past few years.

All in all, that means we can pretty much guarantee the S11 will come with 5G, allowing you to download a whole mobie in a matter of seconds.

As with any leaks, we can’t know for sure how accurate they are, so take the latest rumours with a pinch of salt.

Based on previous Samsung releases, it’s pretty nailed on the S11 will hit shelves in March 2020 – though Samsung hasn’t yet confirmed it even exists.

It may be a couple months off, but experts are already making guesses as to a potential release date.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 was unveiled at a press event on February 20, and then went on sale globally on March 8.

Earlier this year, we spoke to CCS Insight analyst Ben Wood, who predicted a similar timeframe for the Galaxy S11.

“Samsung is almost metronomic with its product release cycles,” Ben told The Sun.

“So it’s highly likely we’ll see the next generation of Galaxy S devices in February 2020.”

Two other analysts – Dan Ives of Wedbush Securities and Paolo Pescatore of PP Foresight – added that the handset would probably be unveiled at Mobile World Congress.

MWC is a major annual tech show held in Barcelona and typically attended by Samsung.

The next show is set to take place between February 24 and 27, but any big press conferences will take place one day before the convention begins.

So expect to see a major Samsung announcement on February 23, if the firm uses the show for its phone launch.

In other news, Samsung is said to be plotting an “iPhone killer” smartphone with an enormous battery.

Samsung’s foldable Galaxy Fold handset has been dogged by endless problems.
