MORE rain is expected over the weekend with hail and thunder likely as Britain got soaked yesterday as heavy downpours caused flooding, road closures and people being evacuated from their homes. Wales is expected to be the worst affected with a yellow weather warning still in place across much of south and south-west Wales, stretching down to St David’s. South-west England as well as Wales are expected to see the most amount of rain with 10-15ml expected to fall throughout day. The bands of showers are due to move from the south-west to the north-east as the day progresses. The Met Office has predicted some areas, mainly in north-east Scotland and England, could see some hail and thunder but temperatures will be above average. Meteorologist Luke Miall told The Sun: “Today’s got everything. As those bands of showers move to the north-east those areas could possibly see some hail and thunder. “But there will also be some sunshine and temperatures in the south will be above the average of 10-11C for this time of year as temperatures hit 13-14C.” While the rain will continue to fall in many parts across the UK it will be nothing like the wind and rain that battered Britain on Friday. The worst affected area was central Scotland that saw 40.8ml of rain fall throughout the day. Pembrokeshire was not far behind that with 40.4ml falling in 24 hours.
