Matt Charboneau The Detroit News Published 4:01 PM EST Nov 10, 2018 East Lansing – Michigan State’s defense played well enough to win on Saturday, holding the highest scoring offense in the Big Ten in check most of the game. However, the MSU offense continued to play poorly as No. 10 Ohio State took advantage and came away with a 26-6 victory in front of 74,633 at Spartan Stadium. Brian Lewerke started at quarterback for the Spartans (6-4, 4-3 Big Ten) but was again ineffective, going 11-for-28 for 128 yards. He was replaced late in the second quarter by redshirt freshman Rocky Lombardi, who found some room running the ball but was 7-for-19 for 92 yards passing. The Spartans gained just 54 yards on the ground, 47 coming on one run from Lombardi. Meanwhile, the Ohio State offense that entered the game averaging better than 547 yards a game managed 347. It was enough as quarterback Dwayne Haskins finished with 218 yards passing and one touchdown while the Buckeyes (9-1, 6-1) gained 113 yards on the ground, many of those coming in the fourth quarter. BOX SCORE: Ohio State 26, Michigan State 6 Paris Campbell scored Ohio State’s first touchdown on a 1-yard reception while Dre’Mont Jones got the other touchdown when he recovered a fumble in the end zone for the Buckeyes.
