Rodrigo Santos is charged with murder, accused of shooting Melvin Davis in the parking lot at Vineyard Townhomes, 9550 Deering in southwest Houston. According to Houston police, Davis was in the parking lot on April 26, 2017, when someone drove a Chevrolet Avalanche into a nearby parking space. A man, who authorities identified as Santos, then got out of the SUV about 11:40 a.m. and shot at Davis several times, fatally injuring him. He had gunshot wounds to his head, chest, back, right buttock and right arm, according to the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. Davis was taken to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Santos, who was arrested in June, is being held in the Harris County Jail without bond. He also faces a charge of an aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in a separate incident last year.
