Picture: David Hannant Archant As the town prepares to be swept with carnival spirit there is still a chance for people to get involved in the celebrations. The Great Yarmouth Arts Festival Carnival Parade hits the streets on Saturday, June 9, and two carnival workshops will be held during the build up. The Town Centre Partnership is hosting the workshops in the market place, outside Palmers, and anyone is free to attend. Participants will be shown how to make headdresses and wavers with a ‘water circus’ theme, designed to reflect the celebration of 250 years of circus, which is the theme for the arts festival. The workshops will take place Thursday, May 31 from 10am to 3pm, and on Friday, June 1, from 12pm to 3pm. Participants will be invited to take part in the parade, though attendance is optional. This year, the carnival will feature crafted life-sized elephants, as well as music and street food.
