PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc welcomes Fumio Kishida, Chairman of the Policy Research Council of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan (L). The government leader highlighted the sound development of Vietnam-Japan relations across a variety of fields over the past 45 years, especially the higher level of political trust between the two nations. He thanked Kishida for his contributions to the bilateral ties in his capacity as Foreign Minister and Secretary-General of the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance and hoped that ishida will continue his support for the bilateral cooperation. In reply, the Japanese official said he was glad to see that Japan has become a leading foreign investor in Vietnam again with a record number of more than 1,700 businesses investing in the Southeast Asian country. Highly rating Vietnam’s economic growth of 6.81% last year, he said Japan desires to contribute to the country’s infrastructure development, including urban railway projects in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Japanese companies are greatly interested in the Vietnamese market, he said while suggesting both nations should step up their cooperation on regional and international issues of shared concern.
