PETALING JAYA: The government will pay a bonus to the country’s 1.6 million civil servants in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri, said Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad today.
Dr Mahathir, however, said the quantum of the bonus was still undecided.
“We will give the bonus, (but) the quantum is still unknown,” he said after chairing Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s (PPBM) supreme leadership council meeting at the party’s headquarters at Menara Yayasan Selangor here today.
Present at the three-hour meeting were PPBM president and Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, PPBM deputy president and Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir and PPBM Youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.
On a separate matter, Dr Mahathir, who is also PPBM chairman, said the party’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration would be held in Perak at a location to be determined later.
Previously, the Barisan Nasional government, during the tabling of the 2018 Budget, had announced a special allowance of RM1,500 for 1.6 million civil servants.
A sum of RM1,000 had been paid out in January while the balance was scheduled to be paid before Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
