Weight lifting has traditionally been viewed as a mans sport and fitness activity. This is no longer the case. More women are recognizing weight training as extremely beneficial to their bodies and minds. There are so many wonderful benefits that can be derived from weightlifting, once you begin, you may find yourself hooked.Weight lifting or training consists of sets of repetitive movements with either free weights or weight machines. As you get better at lifting, you will increase the amount of weight that you can handle, and will increase the number of repetitions or reps that you can do. When first starting out, you should probably begin with free weights and then slowly move the weight machines as you learn how to better control your movements and strength. While you may eventually move your fitness regime to a home gym, when first starting out, you should go to a gym.This is for several reasons including financial, safety and motivation concerns.
